Meet Owner and Head Trainer Fana Fuqua
Former USA National Team and UC Berkeley Water Polo member, Fana Fuqua MA ‘18, was ready to take her career to the next level by pursuing her master’s degree in Kinesiology. Inspired by her passion for swimming, water polo, cycling, hiking, climbing, cross country skiing and bouldering, Fana began her own personal fitness company in 2003, Fuqua Fitness Adventures. At FFA, she utilizes her extensive background in high school, collegiate, masters, and international athletics as both an athlete and coach. Fana not only believes in helping clients with their fitness needs but also understands the importance of mentorship and academics for athletes. Fana served as UC Berkeley’s Academic Advisor for Aquatic Athletes during an internship for graduate school.
The Western Society for Physical Education of College Women awarded Fana with the President’s Educational Equity Scholarship (PEES) for her interest in the teaching and coaching of aquatics to the LGBTI and underserved communities of color as well as bringing outdoor fitness activities to communities of color. Fana is also a member of the Legal Aid at Work Advisory Council where she collaborates with like minded women to improve the conditions of participation and access to equal athletic opportunities for girls and women, with a major focus on underserved communities.
Fana works with a wide variety clientele looking to achieve fitness through hard work and fun. She believes that variety is key and loves to design personalized programs and help clients measure progress through challenge sets and games. For personal clients, Fana offers functional fitness for seniors, cross training and sports-specific training for all fitness levels and goals. For group fitness, Fana offers core work, adult swim fitness, youth and adult water polo classes, mom and kids boot camp as well as sports conditioning for adults and teenagers.
